It was the summer after Papa passed away and the first time my brother was visiting our province, Bugasong. A short walk from our family house was the Baybay, Papa's favourite place. He used to tell me stories of times when him and Lolo would take a walk by the shore while watching the fishermen go about their daily routine and how Lolo always looked so relaxed just staring out into the horizon, taking in the vastness of the ocean. Little moments he cherished as a little boy which perhaps ignited his love for the ocean as well.
Now I stand on the same shore with my brother, staring at the same horizon Lolo and Papa had many moons ago. 19 years in the making, side by side, we silently watched as the sun begun to set. Tomorrow, I'll tell him more about Papa but right now, being reunited is enough. xx
