We were woken up early, partly because it was our last morning on the island and what a waste it would be to spend our remaining time sleeping in but also partly because, let's be honest, the summer's heat was terrible and pierced through our tents making the inside feel like an oven.
Taking it as an opportunity to explore the island one last time, some of us decided to take a walk along the shore. Of course, deep conversations were inevitable. One of which where we talked about the near future- one was going through the ebb and flow of medical school but somehow finds himself dealing with his own anxieties when thinking about what happens after graduating while the other was determined to continue on despite a few setbacks. Another, for the first time and without any backup plans, realised opting out was the best decision she has made.
It's a scary world out there but it would've been scarier without friends to share your hopes, dreams, and fears with.
After a good half an hour, we reached the rocky area of the beach, a cue that it was time to head back to camp. Back to reality or rather, back to making our hopes and dreams a reality. xx
